USMEF

The global trade landscape underwent major changes in 2025, largely driven by shifts in U.S. trade policy.

The introduction of new U.S. tariffs created a great deal of uncertainty and contributed to shifting trade patterns for the U.S. red meat industry. Retaliatory measures also impacted red meat exports, though these were mostly limited to China.

Despite the headwinds and uncertainties – whether supply-oriented, macroeconomic or political – global demand is robust. USMEF remains focused on helping our international customers grow their profitability through U.S. red meat.

See the USMEF Annual Report 2025 for a message from USMEF’s president and CEO, a summary of exports in 2025, an overview about USMEF and its partnerships, and highlights of the industry’s work in international markets over the past year.
