Weekly USMEF Audio Report: Minnesota Soybean Producers Step Up Support of Pork Exports...
Sept. 29, 2009 - As the U.S. pork industry continues to deal with difficult economic times, maintaining a strong level of U.S. pork exports is considered a key to restoring profitability. With this is mind, the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council has decided to increase its financial support for pork exports by funding specific marketing campaigns in key markets such as Japan, Mexico and South Korea.
Brian Greenslit of Franklin, Minn., who is in his seventh year as a director on the council and is currently serving as council treasurer, says it’s more important than ever for soybean producers to support programs that will help improve the bottom line of their largest customer - the U.S. livestock industry.
Greenslit added that promoting U.S. meat exports is an excellent way for all sectors of U.S. agriculture to work together toward a common goal.
The U.S. Meat Export Federation (www.USMEF.org) is the trade association responsible for developing international markets for the U.S. red meat industry and is funded by USDA, exporting companies, and the beef, pork, corn and soybean checkoff programs.
