USMEF Statement on Key Provisions of the Budget Reconciliation Bill
On July 4, President Trump signed the budget reconciliation bill, which makes key investments in programs that advance U.S. agricultural exports.
U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) President and CEO Dan Halstrom issued the following statement:
USMEF thanks Congress and the Trump administration for prioritizing U.S. agricultural exports in the budget reconciliation bill by increasing funding for USDA’s export promotion programs. With outstanding support from the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service, these programs are essential for developing new destinations for U.S. products – including U.S. pork, beef and lamb – and for defending our market share worldwide. The legislation also provides essential funding for animal health programs that protect U.S. livestock and help maintain access to global markets. We know that very difficult choices had to be made in the budget process and greatly appreciate these investments, which deliver critical returns for U.S. agriculture.
