USMEF Names Joe Schuele as Communications Director
The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) has named Joe Schuele as its new director of communications. Schuele began work at USMEF’s Denver, Colo., headquarters on July 10.
Prior to joining USMEF, Schuele served for four years as communications director for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. He also has an extensive background in legislative and regulatory affairs - including 10 years on the staff of the Nebraska Legislature, where he served much of that time as the chief research analyst for the Committee on Agriculture.
“Joe Schuele brings a very diverse background to USMEF - not only in terms of communications, but also in economics as well as regulatory and legislative policy issues,” said USMEF President and CEO Philip Seng. “He adds a great deal of depth and more than 20 years of experience to our communications team.”
A graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Schuele holds a Bachelor of Journalism degree as well as a master’s degree in economics. He was raised on a family farm and ranch operation in central Nebraska, and says one of the most appealing aspects of working at USMEF is the chance to help enhance business opportunities for the nation’s farmers and ranchers.
“American agriculture is going through an interesting time right now, with record-high operating costs and other difficult conditions,” Schuele said. “But our global trade potential has never been greater, and I really look forward to being part of the USMEF team that leads the way in building those overseas marketing opportunities.”
