USMEF Audio on Strategic Planning Conference

Members and directors of the U.S. Meat Export Federation will gather in Tucson, Ariz., Nov. 3-5 for the annual USMEF Strategic Planning Conference. The conference consists of key industry committee meetings, as well as the latest reports and updates from all major international markets for U.S. beef and pork exports. USMEF President and CEO Philip Seng says the economic uncertainty currently plaguing many international markets will be a major topic of discussion.

Seng says that while USMEF members are very excited about the excellent performance of U.S. meat exports this year, they know difficult challenges lie ahead in the final months of 2008, as well as in 2009.

He added that international markets are an extremely important focus for the U.S. meat industry, especially with production at a very high level and the domestic economy experiencing significant challenges of its own.
