The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) has a “branded products promotion program” designed to help U.S. companies sell their branded products in marketplaces outside the United States.
USMEF’s mission is to expand U.S. red meat exports, and it employs various approaches to meet this goal. In many still developing markets for the U.S. industry, future growth is more likely through sales of specific, value-added items rather than increased sales of beef and pork on a commodity basis. USMEF promotes processed items tailor-made for specific markets, such as American-style sausages in Russia, and the branded products promotion program helps U.S. exporters to get their products off the ground and into the minds and hearts of buyers and consumers.
USMEF has funds for U.S. companies interested in receiving matching funds for promotional activities for branded U.S. red meat products in foreign markets. For purposes of this application, eligible companies must have 500 or fewer employees. Proposals funded under this program will run through June 30, 2002.
Listed below are activities typically conducted under the branded products promotion program. Companies that wish to conduct activities not included may contact the USMEF/Denver office to determine whether their proposed activities fall within the scope of the branded program.
