Suggested Lead: With Singapore recently reopening its market to U.S. beef, ending a two-year closure due to bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) concerns, U.S. Meat Export Federation ASEAN Director Eric Choon says supermarkets and restaurants selling U.S. beef are seeing increased sales.

Restaurants and steakhouses in Singapore featuring U.S. beef are doing so with success. To help with this success, Choon talks about upcoming promotions and activities sponsored by USMEF.

At the Singapore Culinary Training Center, USMEF Chef Sabrina Yin conducts intensive training for chefs in the Southeast Asian region, demonstrating how to use a variety of U.S. pork and beef cuts in Western and Asian dishes.

Yin is performing these cutting and cooking demonstrations today (May 25) for meat buyers attending the USMEF Board of Directors Meeting and Product Showcase in Las Vegas, Nev., as Choon explains.

The U.S. Meat Export Federation is the trade association responsible for developing international markets for the U.S. red meat industry and is funded by USDA, exporting companies, and the beef, pork, lamb, corn, sorghum and soybean checkoff programs.
