Suggested Lead: Last week’s Strategic Marketing and Planning Conference for the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) provided a chance to gather input for creating methods of increasing international demand for U.S. meat. Dennis Erpelding, who was installed as USMEF chair at the meeting, says bringing USMEF staff from across the globe to the table makes a difference.

According to Erpelding, exports have added billions to the U.S. meat industry. USMEF’s goal and commitment is to grow those exports on an ongoing basis.

More than 250 individuals affiliated with USMEF attended the Strategic Marketing and Planning Conference in Cancun Nov. 1-3.

The U.S. Meat Export Federation is the trade association responsible for developing international markets for the U.S. red meat industry and is funded by USDA, exporting companies, and the beef, pork, lamb, corn, sorghum and soybean checkoff programs.
