Suggested Lead: Last year U.S. pork and pork variety meat exports hit a record volume of more than 1 million metric tons and a record value of $2.23 billion. The first four months of this year show increases of 16 percent in volume and 29 percent in value over the same period last year.
U.S. Meat Export Federation Chairman Alan Smith sees the increasing demand for U.S. pork in Japan, Mexico, Canada and other markets as a continued call for USMEF activities worldwide.
