Every year the U.S. pork industry seems to be growing stronger in the world market. That’s according to U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) President and CEO Phil Seng, who told 26 domestic and international reporters in a teleconference Thursday, Mar. 1 that when it comes to value for U.S. producers, the success starts in Asia.

Seng says preliminary estimates for worldwide exports of U.S. pork in 2007 show an increase of 6.2 percent to 1.338 million metric tons.
The U.S. Meat Export Federation is the trade association responsible for developing international markets for the U.S. red meat industry and is funded by USDA, exporting companies, and the beef, pork, lamb, corn, sorghum and soybean checkoff programs.
