DENVER (November 7, 2002) – The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) will welcome the Iowa Beef Industry Council into the select group of USMEF members which belong to the Million Dollar Club next month. USMEF President & CEO Philip Seng will present a representative of the council with a plaque during the Annual Board of Directors Meeting, November 6-8, 2002, at the Hyatt Regency, Long Beach, Calif.

The Iowa Beef Industry Council has proven to be one of the strongest and most consistent supporters of USMEF’s mission to put U.S. red meat on the world’s table. The council’s cumulative funding, which passed the $1 million mark this year, has allowed USMEF to promote U.S. products and created new opportunities for exporters in all corners of the globe.

USMEF created its Million Dollar Club in 1991 to recognize members that have contributed more than a million dollars to the USMEF export program since the federation began.  To qualify for the Million Dollar Club, funds must be available for USMEF to apply them where they are most needed to achieve the industry’s overall export goals, and not be designated for specific programs.  The Iowa Beef Industry Council and the other members of the Million Dollar Club have been unwavering in their support of USMEF and the industry’s export vision.  The presentation of the plaque is a small token of USMEF’s gratitude.
