Audio: USMEF Chairman Keith Miller Previews Cattle Industry Summer Conference
Published: Aug 02, 2011
Hundreds of cattle producers are gathering in Kissimmee, Florida, this week for the 2011 Cattle Industry Summer Conference. One of them is USMEF Chairman Keith Miller, a farmer-stockman from Great Bend, Kansas.
In the attached audio report, Miller says he is looking forward to receiving updates on the national and global cattle markets. He also finds the conference to be an excellent opportunity to share information with his fellow cattle producers about the success U.S. beef exports are achieving in foreign markets. In recent months, U.S. beef export value has exceeded $200 per head of fed slaughter – which Miller says is a telling indication of how important the global markets are to the profitability of U.S. cattle producers.
Miller also looks forward to policy discussions at the Cattle Industry Summer Conference, including updates on Congressional ratification of pending free trade agreements with South Korea, Colombia and Panama.
