U.S. Pork Exports Increase 21 Percent In Volume, 9 Percent In Value Over 2005
According to statistics just released by the USDA, U.S. pork and pork variety meat exports were 21 percent higher in volume at 327,233 metric tons (mt) in the first three months of this year compared to the same period last year, and 9 percent higher in value at $632.8 million.
U.S. pork exports to Mexico, the No. 1 market in tonnage, rose 32 percent in volume to 98,092 mt and 22 percent in value to $141.4 million while exports to Japan, the No. 1 market in value, were 9 percent lower in volume at 80,665 mt and 12 percent lower in value at $242.4 million.

U.S. Beef Exports Up 37 Percent In Volume, 65 Percent In Value Over 2005
U.S. beef and beef variety meat exports were 37 percent higher in volume at 134,426 mt in the first three months of this year compared to the same period last year, and 65 percent higher in value at $425 million.
U.S. beef exports to No. 1 market Mexico increased 42 percent in volume to 80,564 mt and 52 percent in value to $267.2 million.
