U.S. Meat Export Volume And Value Continue Upward Through October
Worldwide export volume and value of U.S. meat continued an upward trend through October of this year compared to the same period last year. U.S. pork and pork variety meat increased 8 percent in volume to 1,025,610 metric tons (mt) and 7 percent in value to $2.3 billion.
Key markets like Mexico and Japan remain the top two destinations for U.S. pork and pork variety meat while growth in markets like Hong Kong, Russia and South Korea make it possible for the U.S. pork industry to enjoy increasing growth in exports for more than 15 years.
U.S. beef and beef variety meat increased 44 percent in volume to 529,323 mt and 58 percent in value to $1.67 billion. Market openings in Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong have helped spur this growth in addition to the unmatched success of U.S. beef variety meat in the Middle East. Increases in mainstay markets like Mexico, the No. 1 destination for U.S. beef and beef variety meat, provide stable and steady export growth.
