U.S. Beef Muscle Exports In June A Record

Recent USDA statistics indicate U.S. beef muscle exports worldwide in June set a single-month volume record at 86,836 metric tons (mt), exceeding the previous monthly high of 81,546 mt of beef exported in August 2002. USMEF trade analysts say the June volume exceeds all single-month data on record back to January 1994.  June's record volume of beef exports was valued at $320.1 million; beef muscle exports for the first six months of this year increased 22 percent in value, to $1.501 billion, compared to the same period a year ago.

The U.S. is the largest exporter of beef and beef variety meats of any country in the world; one of every four pounds of beef traded in the world originates in the U.S. Beef exports represent 12.4 percent of all U.S. beef production, and the extra value achieved by U.S. beef exports is $1.2 billion per year.
