USMEF-Korea Launches “Pork Story” Web Site

On Oct. 12, USMEF-Korea launched Pork Story, a new consumer Web site designed to increase awareness of the positive attributes of U.S. pork.

“With Koreans relying on the Internet for so much of their consumer information, we feel that Pork Story will be an extremely valuable tool for communicating the benefits offered by U.S. pork,” said Jihae Yang, USMEF-Korea director.

The main categories of the Web site are:

  • “All About U.S. pork”
  • “Pork & Culture”
  • “Pork & People”

They allow consumers to consult a wide range of “farm-to-table” issues, including U.S. pork production, safety, nutrition, handling and preparation and recipes. This is also USMEF-Korea's first trial of two-way communication with consumers, making Pork Story a platform for Korean consumers to post their own stories about U.S. pork. In an early showing of consumer interest and participation, some visitors have already posted pork recipes.

To celebrate the Web site and maximize its exposure, USMEF-Korea has placed an online banner advertisement on four portal sites and the KBS Broadcasting Web site. USMEF also posted notices in several Web communities that are oriented toward gourmet restaurants. Eight bloggers who recently participated in a U.S. pork event are also planning to conduct U.S. pork-related activities for their blogs' visitors.
