USMEF-Japan Seeks Support For Trade Pork Seminar

USMEF-Japan will conduct a trade pork seminar – the “U.S. Frozen Pork Value-added Merchandizing Ideas” – on Friday, Nov. 14, in Tokyo, and is seeking the involvement of U.S. pork processers who would like to have information distributed about their company and their ability to supply the products introduced in the seminar.

One of the main purposes of the seminar is to introduce additional foodservice, bento, and sozai uses for U.S. frozen standard pork cuts and value-added items, such as pre-sliced bellies, seasoned ground pork and pork tongue trimmings.

“We expect to have 200 to 250 traders, distributors, manufacturers, foodservice buyers, retailers and hotel buyers in attendance,” said Greg Hanes, USMEF-Japan director. “After the seminar, there will be tastings of at least 12 menus using the above cuts plus CT butt and CC loin.”

USMEF will not display company product samples, but plans to distribute information about our member companies that can provide these or other items to Japan, including marinated, cooked or other value-added frozen items.

Companies interested in having their information distributed at the seminar should provide:

  • Up to 200 copies of company brochures and/or product lists (in Japanese, if available)
  • Contact information of the key company representatives

To be included in the seminar, all materials need to arrive at the USMEF-Japan office by Wednesday, Nov. 12. For information, contact USMEF-Tokyo at Tokyo@usmef.org. Materials should be delivered to:

USMEF Plans Major Presence at Two Japanese Trade Shows in 2009

USMEF-Japan will promote U.S. beef and pork at two major trade shows in the new year: FOODEX, Japan’s largest, and the Meat Industry Fair. FOODEX is the most prominent of Japan’s trade shows, but the Meat Industry Fair is an ideal trade show for USMEF members as it is focused on meat.

FOODEX Japan 2009

The 34th International Food & Beverage Exhibition FOODEX Japan 2009 will be held from March 3 to 6, 2009, at Makuhari Messe, Chiba City, Japan. FOODEX is one of the biggest and most popular food exhibitions in Asia and attracts more than 90,000 buyers every year. It attracts traders, retailers, wholesalers, food processors, HRI buyers and anyone seeking food products to meet their current demands or to allow them to offer something unique and innovative.

USMEF-Japan invites member packers and other companies to take part and to provide product exhibitions for the pavilion.

Japan Meat Industry Fair

The 35th Japan Meat Industry Fair (April 22-24) at Tokyo Big Sight, is the largest trade show in Japan that specializes in meat products. It held jointly with Fabex, a specialized trade show for deli foods. More than 60,000 food industry traders will visit the show in three days.

Traders, retailers, wholesalers, food processors and HRI buyers come to the Japan Meat Industry Fair to buy and to see the latest in trends and technology. USMEF has booths available for members to exhibit alongside USMEF.
