Japan’s Beef Imports Up In November

In November, Japan imported 50,827 metric tons (mt) of beef, 7.8 percent more than November 2001, according to Japanese government statistics. The U.S. provided 21,630 mt of the total, Australia, 26,891 mt. Imports of U.S. product were only 1.4 percent lower than November 2001, and U.S. chilled beef imports were 17.5 percent higher at 9,104 mt.
