USMEF Technical Services Manager Travis Arp was among the guest speakers this week at the International Halal Food Conference in Rosemont, Ill. Arp appeared on a panel discussing export considerations and requirements for halal foods, along with representatives from the U.S. Dairy Export Council and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation.Arp’s presentation focused primarily on import requirements for U.S. beef and lamb in destinations where halal slaughter and certification are required. He also discussed the recent growth in halal exports to markets which do not require halal certification but have high demand from private buyers.
The conference was hosted by the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America.
