USMEF Helps Celebrate Return Of U.S. Beef To Jordan

USMEF helped celebrate the return of U.S. beef to Jordan’s fine dining outlets by participating in a reception at the Amman Marriott Hotel Nov. 21. The event, held in cooperation with the Kaylani Food Center (the Certified Angus Beef agent in Jordan) and the U.S. Embassy in Amman, attracted more than 90 people, including media, Kaylani customers and potential buyers and decision makers in the HRI and retail sectors of Jordan.

Press releases on the event in both Arabic and English were distributed. The event received excellent media coverage in the Jordanian local newspapers and magazines, as well as on various web sites.

U.S. Ambassador to Jordan David Hale was on hand to announce the reintroduction of U.S. beef to the country’s finest hotels. He emphasized U.S. beef safety and the USDA surveillance program and the safeguards of the U.S. beef industry. Also addressing the group was AMFI staff member Simon Bakht, representing USMEF, who thanked co-sponsors and highlighted the continued support USMEF provides to its trading partners to keep U.S. beef competitive and superior.

A 10-minute video on the U.S. Beef Quality Assurance Program and a 7-minute video on CAB products were also shown to attendees.

Guests were encouraged to stay and enjoy high quality U.S. beef products supplied by CAB.  Currently only Marriott restaurants are licensed to serve U.S. CAB in Jordan.

More than 72,561 metric tons of beef and beef variety meats had been exported to the Middle East as of Oct. 6, a 210 percent increase over the same period of 2005. Those products were worth nearly $95 million.
