USMEF Briefs FAS Officials

USMEF provided a briefing for two key members of USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) staff last week at USMEF’s Denver headquarters.

Michael Michener, FAS administrator, and Christian Foster, deputy administrator for the FAS Office of Trade Programs, received an overview from USMEF President and CEO Philip Seng on USMEF’s mission, history and current marketing activities, as well as an update from senior USMEF staff on current market access issues and the global trade climate for U.S. beef and pork.

Most recently, he served as the senior democracy and governance advisor and lead planning officer for the U.S. State Department’s Office of the Coordinator for Reconstruction and Stabilization.

Prior to leading the Office of Trade Programs, Foster served in the FAS Office of Capacity Building and Development. He has also headed the FAS Trade and Investment Program Branch, served on a detail with the U.S. Agency for International Development, and was chief of the New Independent States and Baltics Section of the Economic Research Service.
