Ministry Publishes TRQ License Recipients
Russia’s Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT) has published a list of companies which applied for and received licenses to import meat products under the new tariff rate quota (TRQ) system on its Web site. On being awarded an import license, companies will then have to apply for ad hoc licenses for individual contracts and specify the 10 digit product code of the items to be imported. They should receive these individual transaction licenses within three 3 working days. Unused portions can be reapplied later to other products, but new ad hoc licenses will have to be applied for.
Russia awarded 244,941 mt (out of a total TRQ of 303,750 mt) of the pork quota to about 400 companies out of an eligible list of 995. The largest recipient was awarded 14,000 mt.
The government awarded 221,974 mt of the 2003 beef quota of 283,500 mt to 340 companies out of 864 eligible.
