USMEF Australian, New Zealand Pork Importers Team Includes Buyers, Processors

A USMEF Australian and New Zealand pork buyers team coming to Iowa on Oct. 30 consists of both traders active in the pork import industry and processing plant executives wanting to learn more about the U.S. pork industry. The team is interested in raw material for processing and ready-to-eat meals for the microwave or in cans. Interested members can attend a USMEF Meet the Buyers Luncheon on Thursday, October 30, 2008, 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m., at the Hilton Garden Inn, West Des Moines, Iowa. USMEF-ASEAN Director Sabrina Yin is leading the team and Assistant Vice President, Industry Relations John Hinners will also be in attendance. The luncheon will allow individual meetings with the buyers.

In the first eight months of 2008, the U.S. exported 31,893 metric tons of pork (including variety meat) to Australia and New Zealand, up 23 percent on 2007, valued at $79.4 million, a 14 percent increase.
