USDA   Submit Your Comments To FSIS Regarding Proposed New Registration Form By August 25   USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced it will require all meat and poultry establishments to submit new registration forms by March 2004 to increase enforcement of recordkeeping requirements of the Federal Meat Inspection Act (FMIA) and the Poultry Products Inspection Act (PPIA). The proposed new form would expand the current company information required by FSIS to facilitate investigations related to public health, food safety and the traceability of pathogens to prevent the spread of foodborne illness. The new form would include such information as company e-mail address, phone number and subsidiaries' hours of operation.   USMEF members have until August 25 to comment on the proposed registration form before all requirements are enforced. It must be completed and returned by all meat and poultry establishments to FSIS by March 22, 2004.
