Beef Trade Investigation Deadlines Approaching

The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) is investigating the effects of animal health, sanitary and food safety measures on global beef trade and the impact of these and other restrictions have on U.S. beef exports.

ITC will submit its final report June 6, 2008 to the Senate Committee on Finance. ITC will hold a public hearing Nov. 15 in connection with the investigation. Requests to appear at the public hearing must be sent to the Secretary, U.S. International Trade Commission, 500 E Street SW, Washington, D.C. 20436, arriving no later than 5:15 p.m. Eastern time on Monday (Oct. 15).

Pre-hearing briefs and statements are due at the Secretary’s office Oct. 22 and post-hearing statements are due Nov. 23. Written submissions are also welcome and are due no later than Feb. 28, 2008.
