U.S. Pork Spare Ribs, Beef Brisket Sampled at Jazz Festival in Ukraine
Offering U.S. pork spare ribs and U.S. beef brisket to music fans in one of Ukraine’s largest cities, USMEF partnered with the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) to offer tasting samples at the Leopolis Jazz Fest in Lviv. Funded by the National Pork Board and the Beef Checkoff Program, the “jazz it up with U.S. meat” promotion highlighted the quality and flavor of U.S. red meat.

USMEF is a contractor of the National Pork Board and a subcontractor of the Beef Checkoff.
“This international outdoor jazz festival featured concerts by more than 100 world-class musicians performing on three stages in the city’s downtown area, and over 100,000 spectators and 200 journalists attended this year,” said Galina Kochubeeva, USMEF representative in the region. “We shared a booth with FAS-Kiev, and guests were able to watch professional Ukrainian chefs prepare dishes with U.S. ingredients and collect promotional materials with detailed information on U.S. pork and beef.”

Information packets handed out by USMEF included contacts for U.S. exporters and Ukrainian importers and traders, along with retail stores and restaurants where U.S. red meat can be purchased.
The tastings offered at the USMEF booth, which attracted more than 1,200 visitors, included U.S. beef brisket sandwiches and U.S. pork spare ribs served St. Louis style.
