U.S. Lamb Cut Chart Guide Now Available
The new U.S. Lamb Cut Chart Guide was developed by USMEF with support from the American Lamb Board
With funding support from the American Lamb Board, USMEF has developed a new U.S. Lamb Cut Chart Guide to help promote U.S. lamb in international markets.
“This guide will serve as a very valuable and versatile marketing tool for our member companies who want to expand their offerings of U.S. lamb in foreign markets,” said Dan Halstrom, USMEF senior vice president for marketing and communications. “There’s a definite need to showcase the full range of lamb cuts that may be of interest to international buyers online casinos that accept us players, and that’s what this guide delivers.”
With the Caribbean being one of the most popular destinations for U.S. lamb exports, USMEF Caribbean representative Elizabeth Wunderlich was heavily involved in the development of the new guide. She notes that it is intended not only to appeal to international buyers, but also to educate U.S. suppliers about the premiums alternative lamb cuts can deliver.
“In developing this guide, USMEF really wanted to go beyond the basic lamb cuts by adding a merchandising component,” Wunderlich explained. “For example, we know that the skirt and flank are popular in our Asian and Latin American markets, so this is a way of educating suppliers about the growth potential for these types of alternative cuts.”
Wunderlich also sees chefs and restaurant managers as an excellent audience for the new guide, as they look for economically priced cuts that will add quality and variety to their menus.
“This can definitely help us get them to think ‘beyond the rack’ and ‘beyond the leg’ and be open to cuts they may not have considered in the past,” she said.
