U.S. Beef a Hot Topic at Gulfood

Published: Mar 06, 2025

Gulfood, one of the world’s largest annual food trade shows, attracted thousands of buyers from the Middle East, Africa, China and North Asia to Dubai, UAE. U.S. suppliers and USMEF staff and representatives were on hand to discuss opportunities with buyers, answer questions about U.S. beef and talk about current issues affecting red meat trade.

USMEF President and CEO Dan Halstrom reports strong interest in U.S. beef and many questions about U.S. beef supply. Gulfood was also an opportunity to discuss issues that slowed exports to the UAE, traditionally the region’s highest value destination for U.S. beef.

Halstrom also pointed to interest in USMEF’s upcoming trade mission to Ghana April 7-9 and market development strategies in Africa.

USMEF’s participation in Gulfood was made possible by USDA, the Beef Checkoff Program and the Texas Beef Council.
