Thailand Lifts Ban on U.S. Pork

The restrictions placed on exports of unprocessed pork and porcine hides to Thailand due to the H1N1 influenza scare have been lifted. The USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) informed USMEF that the May 20, 2009, memo from the Thai authorities requiring certification that the products were derived from hogs not affected with H1N1 has been rescinded. Eligible pork products from hogs slaughtered after May 20, 2009, can now be exported. Exporters should note that Thailand still bans U.S. pork offals. Complete export requirements can be read online.
