Nationwide Television Program Carries USMEF Interview

Television viewers throughout Mexico caught an interview with USMEF Director, External Affairs, Gilberto Lozano Saturday (Aug. 26). The interview focused on the importance of a well-balanced diet that includes red meat, especially for children and adolescents. The interview was part of the program “Platicame” on Mexico City’s Channel 4, which can be seen across the country via cable.

In the interview, Lozano acknowledged the problem of obesity in Mexico, and stressed the value of meat’s high satiety value when it comes to healthy eating. He also noted that red meat is a good source of proteins essential for brain and body development. At the end of the program a chef prepared a recipe using U.S. meat.

“Platicame” is a program which targets children and their parents, diabetics, dieticians and doctors.  It focuses on the topics of nutrition, diabetes and other interesting health topics.

As part of its social responsibility in Mexico when it comes to nutrition, USMEF has created Roy’s Club for children and adolescents. Roy’s Club delivers the message of eating a healthy diet that includes red meat, and provides children with ways of preparing delicious meat dishes and keeping track of physical development.
