Taiwan Moving Forward with New Beef Trade Protocol
Taiwan Moving Forward with New Beef Trade Protocol, but More Details to Come
Earlier today, the government of Taiwan announced its revised import rules for U.S. beef, expanding the range of acceptable products to a science-based protocol that will include all products from all U.S. cattle regardless of age. In the initial phase of the new trade protocol, however, U.S. exporters will limit all U.S. beef cuts to beef from cattle less than 30 months of age.
USMEF staff in Taiwan and the U.S. government are still in the process of analyzing details of the new regulations, so the announced protocol is not yet functional. USMEF will provide notice to exporters when further information is available, including updates to the FSIS Library of Export Requirements that will reflect a functional change in the beef export requirements for Taiwan.
