Bone-In Short Rib In Short Supply In Taiwan

USMEF-Taiwan reports that strong sales of bone-in short rib to South Korea mean shortages in Taiwan. Bone-in short rib sells well in Taiwan at before next month’s Autumn festival, when consumers traditionally cook barbecue. USMEF estimates that supplies are down 20~30% to come to Taiwan. Boneless short rib has been successfully marketed by some retailers instead and USMEF is promoting U.S. boneless short rib. USMEF-Taiwan also reports that food-service establishments are turning to chuck eye roll instead of more expensive cuts for shabu shabu and Chinese hot pot meals.
