St. Kitts and Nevis Removes Restrictions on U.S. Beef
Effective June 14, the Caribbean island nation of St. Kitts and Nevis has removed age and product restrictions on U.S. beef, and will now allow imports in accordance with OIE guidelines for beef produced in countries with controlled-risk status for BSE.
All federally inspected establishments are eligible to export beef to St. Kitts and Nevis. Full details of the updated export requirements are available online. Through April, beef exports to the Caribbean have increased 15 percent in volume and 9 percent in value over the same period last year.
“U.S. beef continues to grow in popularity in the Caribbean, and broader market access will help us further build on that positive momentum,” said Elizabeth Wunderlich, USMEF representative in the region.
