New Port Trucking Fees Next Week

Published: Feb 10, 2009

The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach begin collecting the new $70/FEU "Clean Truck Fee" next Wednesday, Feb. 18. The Agriculture Transportation Coalition (AgTC) reminds members that “unless the Federal Maritime Commission and American Trucking Association lawsuits proceed faster than expected, if you're shipping through LA and Long Beach Ports, you need to be prepared for the new PortCheck program. Details available at https://www.pierpass-tmf.org/Documents/PortCheck_Factsheet.pdf.

“If you are already registered for PierPass, you do not need to reregister for PortCheck. For details on which kinds of trucks are exempt from the fee, who pays, how much, and links to much more detail, go to www.portcheck.org.”

The latest bulletin from the AgTC is on the USMEF Web site’s AgTC section.
