USMEF Advises Exporters To Verify Establishment Information

In the past few weeks there have been several incidents in South Korea of shipments detained by South Korean officials upon arrival due to documentation errors associated with the establishment address.

As most are aware, the South Korean officials pay particular attention to the USDA-FSIS Establishment Directory and they match this information to the information on all documentation and labels. Shipments have been detained for single digit discrepancies in the zip code, for example, and unfortunately, it can take several days to resolve the issue and clear the shipment.

To avoid these delays, USMEF is advising that all exporters review their establishment information (including any cold storage facilities utilized) in the FSIS Establishment Directory available at: http://www.fsis.usda.gov/regulations_&_policies/Meat_Poultry_Egg_Inspection_Directory/index.asp to ensure information is correct and up to date. If differences or errors are found, please contact FSIS directly to request that corrections are made or contact USMEF Assistant Director, Export Services Kevin Smith at ksmith@usmef.org for assistance.
