USMEF Ad Highlights U.S. Beef Safety And Taste
USMEF placed an advertisement in three major South Korea newspapers Saturday, Feb. 24, to show consumers that Korean families living in the United States regularly enjoy safe, wholesome U.S. beef because of its taste and high quality.
The ad aims to quell fears among Korean consumers that U.S. beef is dangerous to eat by showing a Korean mother and daughter living in the United States enjoying U.S. beef in traditional Korean dishes.
“Our family has been in the United States for six years,” the mother in the ad says. “My family and I love beef. The price is reasonable and we frequently enjoy L.A. ribs, steak and bulgogi.”
Bulgogi is one of Korea's most popular beef dishes. Typically, thinly-sliced sirloin is grilled at the table then wrapped in lettuce and served with kimchi, a Korean relish.
Last month, USMEF placed a U.S. beef safety information ad as free trade agreement (FTA) talks got underway in Seoul between the United States and Korea. The ad spurred media covering the FTA talks to highlight key consumer benefits of U.S. beef imports, such as competitive price and increased supply.
U.S. and South Korean officials reportedly now have agreed to meet March 5-6 in Washington, D.C., in efforts to continue talks on agricultural imports and U.S. beef.
