U.S. Beef Exports Soar, Capture 62 Percent Share

The United States industry captured 62 percent of the South Korean import market according to recent figures released by the South Korean government for the first four months of 2002. Australia’s share was 25 percent. U.S. beef exports to South Korea are significantly up (111 percent) over 2001 — 59,724 mt this year compared to 28,228 mt for the same period last year.

U.S. Pork Exports To Korea Climb

According to statistics released by the South Korean government for the first four months of 2002, U.S. pork exports to Korea rose 78 percent from 2,516 mt (January-April 2001) to 4,491 mt in the first four months of 2002.
