Three New Cases Of FMD Confirmed In South Korean Hogs
South Korea confirmed today (June 24) that three hogs had tested positive for foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) on a farm less than 60 miles south of Seoul and only a day ahead of a World Cup semifinal soccer match in the capital. Six hogs had shown symptoms of the disease and two had died at the farm in Ansong. Korean Authorities will liquidate a total of 6,138 cloven-hoofed animals, mainly hogs and cows, in the affected farm and neighboring areas. This will bring the total culled to contain the outbreak of the disease since May 4 to 133,770 animals.
