Large Retailer Features U.S. Pork During High Season
To help increase sales of affordable U.S. pork ribbed belly during a time of year when pork is in high demand, USMEF worked with large retailer Samsung Tesco Homeplus to promote U.S. pork during July at all of its 55 stores nationwide.
Homeplus offered U.S. pork at a reasonable price during the promotion period to attract sales and USMEF provided complimentary kitchen spoon holders to customers who purchased a specified amount of U.S. pork.
USMEF cooked U.S. pork at participating stores so consumers could experience its tenderness, juiciness and good taste. Due to the popularity of the promotion, it has been extended through Aug. 5.
Last year South Korea was the fourth largest destination for U.S. pork and pork variety meat with exports increasing 52 percent in volume to more than 240 million pounds (109,198 metric tons) and 50 percent in value to $232 million compared to 2005.
