Export Suspension Of Two U.S. Beef Companies Lifted
U.S. Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns and the South Korea National Veterinary Research & Quarantine Service (NVRQS) announced that as of today (June 26) an export suspension, which had been applied to six plants operated by two U.S. beef companies, has been lifted.
"We are pleased that Korea will allow the resumption of shipments from these plants," said Johanns. "USDA has taken action to ensure compliance with Korean import requirements here in the United States and Korea recognized these efforts."
The suspension was put in place May 29 after a third-party shipment arrived in South Korea containing U.S. beef produced for the domestic market by these companies.
