Country Of Origin Requirement Information Available To U.S. Exporters
South Korea implemented a requirement in October of this year specifying all meat products imported into South Korea must bear a designation of country of origin. A grace period for enforcing the requirement was granted until January 1, 2007.
USMEF international staff has worked diligently with Korean customs and USDA officials to identify the details of the requirement and has compiled a guidance document to aid U.S. exporters. Requirement details have been very fluid up to this point and there is still potential for changes to occur before the January 1, 2007 enforcement date. USMEF will continue to work with USDA to further clarify the components of the requirement and will provide information as it becomes available.
