U.S.-Chile FTA Is Creating Opportunities For Beef And Pork

The expansion of the Chilean Pork Industry into international markets and import barriers imposed on Brazilian products have created a shortage in the domestic pork supply. Canadian suppliers have already taken advantage of this situation, but the current devaluation of the U.S. dollar relative to the Canadian dollar has created a potential advantage for U.S. suppliers.

Salami And Prosciutto Niche Market Opportunities In Brazil

U.S. companies producing high-end salami have an opportunity to capture the market share lost by Italian companies to a Brazilian import ban. An opportunity to export high-quality U.S. prosciutto exists provided that the price is 30 percent lower than the European product. The recent fall in the value of the U.S. dollar relative to the Euro gives U.S. products a 30 percent price advantage.
