U.S. Meat Samples At Food & Hotel Asia Benefit Buyers And Charities

USMEF is providing U.S. meat samples and information to potential buyers at Food & Hotel Asia 2006, one of the region’s largest food and hospitality events taking place April 25-28 at the Singapore Expo.

Large numbers of participants provide USMEF an ideal opportunity to present educational material, handling guidelines, health benefits and distribute samples of U.S. meat products.

Visitors sampling sausages at the USMEF booth can make a donation if they wish, with all proceeds going to charities in the region.

“We hope that this gesture will help the less fortunate in a small but significant way,” said Eric Choon, USMEF ASEAN director.

In addition to increasing interest in high quality U.S. pork products, the event is a great opportunity for USMEF to reconnect with industry members in an effort to reestablish a strong U.S. beef presence in Singapore.

Singapore announced in late January it was reopening to U.S. beef. Prior to the BSE ban, U.S. beef and beef variety meat exports to Singapore were 944 metric tons (mt), valued at $5.87 million in 2003.

Food & Hotel Asia, established since 1978, is Asia’s largest international food and hospitality trade show, with 2,327 exhibiting companies from 70 countries attracting 37,000 visitors, 38 percent of them from overseas.
