Short Shelf Life May Result In Chilled Beef Shipment Rejection

USMEF has become aware that the Singapore government has an unofficial "guideline" related to allowable shelf life for chilled, vacuum packaged beef items. While this is not in the online Food Safety & Inspection Service (FSIS) Library of Export Requirements, USMEF understands that chilled beef items have an allowable shelf life of eight weeks from the slaughter date. If the product reaches Singapore after this eight-week period has expired, the authorities will detain and reject the entire shipment. USMEF is working on this issue and will provide additional information as it becomes available.
