World Food Show Provides A Stage For U.S. Pork And Beef

World Food Moscow is a good opportunity for U.S. companies to maintain contacts with important customers as well as to find new clients in a country where the market is changing rapidly. More than 15 member companies joined USMEF at Russia’s largest food show Sept. 18-21 to deliver the latest information on U.S. beef and pork attributes and supplies.

Meat importers, wholesalers and retailers were among the many visitors at the USMEF booth to learn the latest news of the U.S. beef market reopening and the U.S. pork quota status in Russia.

Pork demand in Russia remains steady and most importers already have made U.S. pork purchases or have contracted goods currently in transport by sea. U.S. pork quotas are forecasted to be met this year.

Exports of U.S. pork variety meat to Russia through July increased 42 percent in volume to 9,086 metric tons (20 million pounds) and 46 percent in value to $21.8 million compared to the same time period last year.

More and more countries show interest in the Russian food market. International participation at the exhibition reached 40 percent as more than 1,300 companies from 53 countries took part in the show.
