Russia Still Accepting Health Certificate; Bans More Pork Plants
USMEF’s staff in Russia reports today that the Russian veterinary service (VPSS) is still accepting the current U.S. health certificate with shipments of U.S. pork.
On the other hand, Russia’s animal and plant regulator agency, Rosselkhoznadzor, has delisted two more U.S. pork processing plants. In addition to the two Iowa-based plants (Columbus Junction and Waterloo), Rosselkhoznadzor announced the delisting of meat plants in Spain, Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina, and three plants in Belgium.
“Right now, the U.S. pork industry and the U.S. government are engaged on multiple levels to resolve these issues and develop a transparent process with clear standards for compliance, as defined guidelines for the relisting of banned plants,” said Paul Clayton, USMEF senior vice president of Export Services.
