Exporting Processed Meat Products and Sausages to Russia

Although Russia uses quotas to regulate meat and poultry imports, there is not an import quota on sausage products. Therefore, U.S. exporters should not overlook exporting those products to Russia.

The Russian Meat Union’s research indicates the share of processed meat products and sausages in the percentage of meat imports overall could grow from the current one to three percent to 20 percent in three to four years.

Chef Training Program Includes More U.S. Processed Pork

USMEF-ASEAN Operations Manager Eric Choon and USMEF-ASEAN Food Consultant Sabrina Yin conducted two sessions of a two-day intensive chef training program at the Singapore Test Kitchen for 17 chefs and two importers from Bali and Jakarta.

Since USMEF has noticed a strong interest in processed pork products in the ASEAN region, USMEF includes more U.S. processed pork products such as pork sausage in demonstrations and provides additional recipe ideas for pre-cooked bacon.

The chef training program, partially funded by the pork checkoff, is an on-going activity USMEF uses to increase U.S. pork usage in restaurants throughout the ASEAN region.
