Beef Export Requirements Updated

As of late Friday (Oct. 19) afternoon, FSIS updated export requirements for beef to Russia. Boneless beef, bone-in beef, and beef byproducts from cattle less than 30 months of age are listed as eligible. The beef and beef byproducts must be derived from cattle raised in the United States and processed in a manner to prevent contamination with brain, spinal cord, eyes, skull, and vertebral column regardless of the age of the animal.

Eligible beef and beef byproducts must be produced under an approved AMS Export Verification (EV) program for beef to Russia. A list of approved Raw Beef and Cold Storage Establishments is also included. For more information, see the Export Requirements for Russia at http://www.fsis.usda.gov/Regulations_&_Policies/Russia_requirements/index.asp.

USMEF is still working with USDA to clarify terms and specifics and will diseminate further information next week.
