Quota Holders Published

The Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade published the lists of companies allocated 25 percent of poultry, beef and pork quotas on February 2. The allocation was based on January–September 2004 import statistics.

The companies will get quota licenses from the ministry and veterinary import certificates from the agricultural ministry’s veterinary service. Several of the companies listed have product on the way to Russia, while others were waiting for publication of the lists.  

The chilled beef quota, 6,875 mt (25 percent of 27,500 mt), is allocated among 21 companies. The frozen beef quota, 107,500 mt (25 percent of 430,000 mt) is allocated among 223 companies. The U.S. share of the just-announced quota is 4,425 mt (25 percent of 17,700 mt). Since Russia currently bans import of U.S. beef, however, the quota holders can import from other supplying countries.

The largest U.S. beef quota holders are Interfood (Kaliningrad) – the consignee of Miratorg (Moscow) (258 mt of U.S. beef, total company’s beef quota is 3,630 mt); Kromexpo (customs broker, 392 mt of U.S. beef, total company’s beef quota is 5,580 mt) - Moscow; Reserve Food Company (318 mt of U.S. beef, total company’s beef quota is 4,519 mt) – Moscow; Trade Oil ExIm (412 mt of U.S. beef, total company’s beef quota is 5,803 mt) – Moscow; Agroaliance (158 mt of U.S. beef, total company’s beef quota is 2,349 mt) – St. Petersburg; Rubeg (350mt of U.S. beef, total company’s beef quota is 4,912 mt) – St. Petersburg; MeatLand (222mt of U.S. beef, total company’s beef quota is 4,834 mt) – St. Petersburg.

The pork quota list covers 116,850 mt (25 percent of the 467,400 mt total pork quota) is divided among 281 companies. The following companies received the largest U.S. pork quotas in the first allocation:

Russian Far East: Modus (126 mt of U.S. pork, total company’s pork quota – 883 mt); DV – Tranzit (122 mt of U.S. pork, total company’s pork quota – 414 mt).

Kaliningrad: Interfood– the consignee of Miratorg (Moscow) (690 mt of U.S. pork, total company’s pork quota – 5,795 mt)
