Exports Leaving Prior To Dec. 19 Will Be Accepted

The USDA asked for written clarification of Romania’s new regulation allowing beef and pork exports only from EU-approved plants (reported in the Export Newsline on Oct. 31). The Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) informed USMEF that all shipments loaded on or before Dec. 19, 2005, can be exported with the existing health certificate, but from Dec. 20 export certificates can only be issued for shipments from EU-approved plants. The USDA has formally asked Romania to delay this action until it joins the EU in 2007.
